Script mentoring from the counter-gaze
“I read your script with the eye of a director who wins funding calls, and tell you what works, what doesn't and how to take it further.”
You have a fiction feature script or a documentary treatment, especially one about women, migration, identity, memory or family bonds. You want to strengthen it before sending it to funds, festivals or production companies.
I read your script from the counter-gaze: I ask who is looking, who is being looked at and who has a voice in your story. I help you build complex characters instead of victims or stereotypes, tell political stories without simplifying them and find a structure that grows out of your story, not out of a formula.
A question of power
Who is looking, who is being looked at and who has a voice in your story?
Politics without preaching, intimacy without exploitation
Committed stories that don't simplify, close without taking advantage of anyone. Key in documentary and in migration stories.
Telling it from the inside
Your own experience as a source of truth, as in Home - El país de la ilusión, where I chose to film my mother on my own.
Structures of your own
Not everything has to follow the hero's journey: collective protagonists, circular time, open endings.
Stories that travel
Stories that cross borders and reach diaspora audiences, which is why they can be co-produced between Europe and Latin America.
